The Cyber Career Symposium will be the biggest showcase of the diversity of cyber roles in Canberra.

Bring along your students or your family to check out the strength of our cyber industry and get involved in our fun, hands-on activities.

Meet over 20 cyber companies, education providers and government organisations like the AFP from all across the sector, and learn from those who have walked the same path before.

Please note that all students under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Whats On Career Symposium

What's Happening On the Day?

There will be 2x morning sessions for participants under 18:

  • One starting at 9:15 AM

  • The next one starting at 11:10 AM

In both of the morning sessions, we will host:

  • A panel session, led by recent graduates, cyber advocates and workforce development leaders.
  • Hands-on activities, rotating throughout the day, including technical and non-technical sessions. These will be accessible to everyone (no matter your technical skills), and closely supported by our amazing cyber experts.
  • Exhibition: Meet over 20 cyber companies working in a multitude of fields, and learn about how much diversity there really is in cyber security.

Location:

The event will be held in inner Canberra. For the specific location, please reach out to us expressing your interest and we'll provide you with more details.

Who's This For?

The morning session is perfect for:

  • Students (Year 8-12): Explore roles, try mini-challenges, talk to your future employers.
  • Parents/Carers: Understand pathways, skills and how to support decisions.
  • Teachers/Career Advisors: Explore new resources, connect with peer groups, and help your students grow more passionate about tech.
"Cyber is everywhere and impacts everyone - it's more than a technical job behind a computer. Organisations are looking for people with diverse professional skills. This event is a must-attend for anyone looking for a challenge that can make a difference."

Dr. Vicki Gradiner, COO of the Canberra Cyber Hub

Frequently asked questions

I am a school teacher/career advisor and want to bring my whole class along. Is this possible?

We strongly encourage groups to visit together; the more the merrier, and it's a great team-building exercise for your classes.

Currently, we have a limit of 25 people per school, so that we can ensure more schools are able to join in.

Reach out to us, express your interest, and we will arrange something that best suits you.

How expensive is it?

The Cyber career Symposium is free for all attendees.

Can I attend by myself?

Yes - college students aged 16 years or over may attend independently, provided they have permission from their parent/guardian and their college.

If you are attending independently, you must:

  • Be 16 years or older
  • Have parent/guardian and college permission
  • Make your own travel arrangements to and from the venue

You will be asked to confirm this as part of the ticket registration process. Students under 16 must attend with a responsible adult or as part of a school‑organised group.

Why is there no registration button?

We ask that you reach out to us prior to registering, so we can best manage student safety on the day. After confirming your intent of attending, we will send you to the relevant Eventbrite registration page.

Will there be a quiet space?

These events, especially with the number of attendees are often quite loud and bustling. Because of this, we have introduced a quiet space. Anyone who is tired of the noise, hustle and bustle, can take time for themselves, relax and recharge and join in whenever they feel suited to.

I am homeschooled or I am homeschooling my children. Can we attend?

Anyone, regardless of schooling style, is welcome to attend as long as a responsible adult is accompanying anyone under 18, and you've reached out to us for tickets.
